COURT MARTIAL SENTENCES TWO CIVILIANS TO 30 YEARS FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND AGGRAVATED ROBBERY.

A military court martial sitting at the division headquarters in Muhoti – Fort Portal City chaired by Lt Col Benon Besigye has sentenced two civilians to 30 years in prison for charges of unlawful possession of firearms, attempted murder and aggravated robbery.

The accused, identified as Basara Peter, 26 and Gideon Mugisa, 30 are both residents of Makindu village, Butungama Sub-county, Ntoroko district.

The prosecution argued that the defendants on the night of 19th September 2022 at around 11pm, the duo shot and injured Mutegeki Timothy and robbed him of Two million eight hundred thousand shillings.

The prosecution presented a compelling case, providing evidence and witness testimonies that painted a vivid picture of the alleged crimes.

The two are to serve imprisonment of 7 years, 20 years, and 30 years on the counts of unlawful possession of firearms, attempted murder and aggravated robbery respectively.


The three sentences are to be served concurrently at Katojo Government Prison.
